10 notes in F major, pentatonic

How to play the Soprano Tongue Drum?

The 8 notes tuned pentatonically in F major are arranged so that the left hand starts at the bottom left of the lowest note. The next note is played on the higher row on the right with the right hand. This pattern continues alternating left-right-left and is repeated up to the highest note.

When playing rhythmically, you can follow a clear sequence or experiment intuitively with the tone colors. You can repeat playing patterns that you like. Occasionally a note breaks out and explores new sound fantasies. Start with rhythmic patterns that are staggered in time and slowly build up melodies. The Soprano Tongue Drum can be played with mallets as well as with the fingers and hands .

With the mallets, you can simply strike the notes rhythmically and clearly one after the other. You can also let the mallets trip on the notes. This causes the soft rubber ball to spring back. If you let the feathering glide over several tongues, fascinating sound patterns are created. This can be combined with simply striking the tongues.

Processing of the Soprano Tongue Drum

The 8-note Profi-Line Tongue Drum from feeltone is a classic on the market. Finely crafted, stable interior, air-dried wood, cleanly tuned. The Soprano Tongue Drum is identical in construction to the larger models, the Tenor and Bass Tongue Drum.

We use padouk because it has particularly good sound characteristics as a tonewood. The padouk from Nigeria comes from controlled and certified logging. Although we are not certified as a company, we can always show the certificate of our wood supplier. It is ethically important for us to use only such wood.

We store the wood in the open air for 2-4 years to achieve the best drying results. Industrially dried padouk is very susceptible to cracking. We process the valuable wood of the trees as completely as possible.

This drum is the finest feeltone craftsmanship made from high-quality materials, lovinglycrafted from the plank to the tuning in the north-east of Germany on the beautiful Baltic Sea and shipped all over the world.

Hazard warning
: You can get your fingers caught if you put your fingers in the slots or openings of the drum. Sitting on the reeds of the drums or hitting them too hard or wedging objects in the openings between the reeds can cause the reeds to break or splinter, which can lead to splinters or cuts. Splinters on the instrument must be removed immediately. The mallets can be mistaken for lollipops and should not be put in the mouth by children. Avoid inserting objects into the opening on the underside, as this can lead to jamming.
