The feeltone Tinka Tong Alto is the smallest wooden tongue drum on the market. However, the fine work that goes into it is not significantly less than that of a drum three times its size or a metal snare drum. The tuning has to be just as precise and the shape and surface have to be a delight to the touch. The materials are made from the same high-quality precious woods as their larger siblings. We make every effort to process these valuable woods, which the trees provide us with, as completely as possible.

Playing style

The pentatonic tuning of the 6 notes is arranged intuitively so that a kind of random pattern/random melody is created when the instrument is played rhythmically. Playing patterns that please are repeated, from time to time a note breaks out and new sound fantasies are explored.

Mallets can simply be struck or dribbled rhythmically and clearly one after the other. This means that the rubber ball of the mallet is droped onto the tongue and the handle is held as if the mallet is intended to remain on the tongue, causing the soft rubber ball to spring back. If you now let the feathering glide not just on one, but over several tongues, fascinating sound patterns are created. This can be combined with simply striking the tongues. The drum can also be held in the finger hole and played with one hand using fingers or a mallet.

The small tongue drums speak the language of the forest, wood and trees. They impress with their cheerfulness, manageability and clarity. With the Tinka Tongs we have given the tongue drums a new joy of playing, lightness and mobility. Almost all playing, melody and rhythm techniques can be played with these tongue drums. With the Tinka Tongs, I, Ingo Böhme, have fulfilled my wish for tongue drums that are struck more with the fingers. They sound soft and gentle and can be combined well with other instruments such as kalimbas, spacedrums or flutes.
